Q: Can the doors be switched to open the other direction?
A: According to the product description, under Specs, then Features, it says the door hinges ARE reversible. If it's anything like my old GE fridge from the mid-90s, it's not apparent by just looking at it, so maybe that's why the verified purchaser answered no. However, if the description is actually wrong, I'd like to know and/or I hope someone fixes it, because this feature is important to me. (FWIW, I have always been very happy with my old GE, it's never needed any repairs, and it still keeps my food as fresh as it ever did, but it may finally be on its last leg, as it's been doing a bunch of loud clunking when the compressor turns off. Of course this happens during a pandemic when the supply chain is hurting and hardly anything's in stock and won't be for months!)
A: Congratulations on your new refrigerator and what an excellent choice! The Styrofoam you see around the controls and vents is not packing material and should not be removed. It is used for insulation and if removed, service will be required to replace it. When starting the refrigerator or changing the temperature, allow for 24 hours until the set point is reached. The fresh food control regulates how long the compressor runs, and in effect, how cold both compartments can become. A: Hi there, and thanks for reaching out to us. We hate to hear there's some confusion over the internal set up of this refrigerator and would like to help clarify. This model has two shelves in the fresh food compartment, as well as two bins at the bottom (the top covering the bins can also hold items). There is a drawer hanging from the top shelf that is adjustable and can be moved if you prefer; this is referred to as the snack drawer, which may be why you didn't see it listed. The freezer has one shelf, though items can also be placed on the floor of the freezer compartment. Perfect Garage Refrigerator
I purchased the fridge as an open box for $375. It was practically brand new and still had all interior shelves taped down with styrofoam. The main reason I selected this fridge is it’s considered garage ready. It can handle extreme hot and cold temps and keeps performing well. The size is perfect for all kinds of different food and drinks. It’s mainly used to store beer, water, pop, pizza and an overflow of things that won’t fit in my kitchen fridge. As a plus, it matches my GE upright freezer. I’d recommend searching out an open box to save a few bucks or catching it on sale. The sale price at the time of purchasing was around $699 for a new version of this fridge. I decided to go with the open box since it was not going to be my main fridge and just a garage fridge.

GE refrigerator
We got a garage ready refrigerator so that we could use the refrigerator and freezer year round without worrying about the temperature. We love the size and it Is everything we wanted . The Best Buy salesman was the only one who understood what garage ready meant out of several places we looked at . Courteous and knowledgeable.

Great garage fridge!
We bought this GE garage ready fridge a little over a month ago because we kept running out of room with our house fridge. It’s perfect—plenty of space and like our GE garage ready chest freezer I know the fridge motor will run well no matter how hot or cold the garage gets. It’s a very basic design but that’s fine for a garage fridge.
