We've had the Hisense U6H 55" for about 2 months now and so far it's been very good. The picture is exceptional for the price point though we've seen the rare artifact (picture attached) in some darker areas on the screen. Not sure what this anomaly is called but it's where a portion of the screen gets pixilated and loses detail. We've watched a lot on it to put it through it's paces and tried various settings combinations and we've only experienced it twice for a few seconds each time. For the $369 price we paid, I absolutely can't complain! My only wish is that I'd have sprung for the 65". The 55" probably fits my small living room better but I really do think the 65" would've been more immersive and impactful to watch. The sound will definitely be needing a sound bar and sub in the future. The sound is ok for the price point but a far cry from dynamic. It's a little tinny. Lastly, the viewing angle is a little narrow, even for my small room. That would be my biggest complaint. Too far off center, and the colors, especially faces, start to get washed out and if we're way off center, it's unwatchable. But in the right room relatively centered, it's a terrific viewing experience.

Excellent value at this price point (~$400). Picture quality is very solid but does degrade with off angle viewing (expected). Contrast is solid for an LED set with this level of local dimming. Best TV at this price though. Very good pickup; works great in my guest bedroom.

Note: I reviewed the 55" model here, I'm not sure if larger sizes would feature a different panel or similar changes. *Great tv set, as long as you are not expecting something like an LG OLED c1/c2 etc then you should do very well with this set. *Panel - Backlight and brightness are high (not eye searing but plenty bright if you aren't in a directly sunlit room). *Gaming - In Gaming mode, the latency is between 10ms and 15ms from what I read in a professional review of this model. If you aren't familiar with the range of latency and it's effects on gaming, this is the time that it takes input from the player (pretend you push left to move Mario to the left) and the time that the TV or monitor actually displays the action. This is very important for sweaty boys playing things like sports games or Call of Duty, where you need every bit of split second reaction speed advantage you can get. Your boyfriend will probably love it. Just don't be sad if you don't see him for awhile after you get him this! *Movies/Streaming - For movies and streaming the TV is not bad. I would personally connect a PS5 or Xbox Series X/S for 4k streaming, or just use like a 4k Roku or Amazon Fire stick or similar. The interface is fine for the built in app store but I prefer to have a dedicated device for that and not use the one in the TV unless it is somehow amazing. Colors are generally good and it has decent HDR (high dynamic resolution) for content that supports it. *Overall verdict - if you can get this one for well under $500 I highly recommend it. At $500 or higher I would have a hard time recommending this over it's more expensive competitors. I saw prices for LG C1 and it was $999 or under. I would trade this for a C1 in a heartbeat, it would be like trading a Ford Focus for a Chevy Camaro. That being said it is also a very good all around use TV and has a little bit for everyone from gamers to just Netflix and Chill-ers, kids and parents and everyone between. I don't think you will be disappointed in this model.
